Since day one when Facebook introduced the option to “Promote Page”, I knew it couldn’t have been a good news. I have stayed away from paying to promote my page as long as possible and I will stick to it. Here are my reasons why:
I’ve notice many Facebook page with thousands of “Likes” but the engagement on the pages seems to range from very few to none. To me that seemed a bit strange. So, I started digging and looking. First thing I’ve noticed is that, most of the likes are from different countries and the user accounts looked very fake. Second, how is Facebook guaranteeing me that I will get X amount of “Likes” by paying X amount of money? What if my contents are pure garbage? To me the big number of likes on a page doesn’t mean anything anymore. It doesn’t seem genuine and I know it’s not.
Personally, I rather have very few genuine likes and real engagement on my page than have 50K fake likes which doesn’t give me any interaction on my page. Since the day Facebook started the promote business, the reach to your audience has been limited. Worst part is, if you paid to promote your page then you probably have thousands of likes but because Facebook limits on how many people your post reaches to, chances are your real audience won’t even see the post. Well, I want to leave you with a video by Veritasium, which will probably make more sense than I am.
